Version 5 of Icovia Design Edition brings with it a little known and very powerful feature that allows you to bring any piece of furniture or product you can find on the web into your plans in Icovia. It's very easy to do and it's a great way to show off your design and plans. Check it out!

Now that we've had a chance to get acquainted, it's time to get down to business.
We have been experiencing intermittent problems with the login/launch feature on our site beginning Friday (6/19). The issue sometimes appears when attempting to log on to Icovia Design Edition using the standard My Account login page at icovia.com. When you launch the planner, a blank screen will appear with the correct URL but the application does not launch.
While the launch feature has had problems, the rest of the application has been functioning properly. To avoid this error while we work on a full solution, please follow these steps:
- Go to the homepage: www.icovia.com
- Find the area labeled "Interior Designers" on the right hand side.
- From there click on the grey button that says "Test Drive".
- Accept the End User License Agreement.
- Login using the "login" button at the top right corner of the application.
This will allow you to access Icovia. Please continue to use this method until further notice. I will create a follow up post once we have it resolved. Again, we apologize for any interruption you may have experienced.
Sorry!

If you are using a Mac and have had slowness issues, it may be a good idea to switch your browser to Safari. This combination runs much more smoothly than Mac/Firefox. We hope to get this issue resolved soon.
Thank you for your patience!

We have had a few support cases recently regarding a blank log in screen. It seems to be a sporadic, intermittent issue and we are currently working to correct it. In the meantime, here is a secondary way to get into your account:

“I am not a designer. I am a regular person who fell in love with the software during beta, when I was helping my brother redecorate his apartment. I wanted to use it again and figured it would be worth it, since nothing else comes close to ease of use.”

“Thank you both for the excellent customer service!”

Ever wish you could take those fine-looking plans of yours and add them to your Word documents? Perhaps you want to send a printed letter to someone, with pictures of plans that you’ve developed in Icovia?
It’s easier than you think. It’s a simple manner of performing a screen capture and pasting it into your document. Here’s an example of the steps that would apply using MS Word (included in Microsoft Office.)
First, open the Icovia plan. Expand (maximize) the window to fill the entire screen. Then "capture the screen" by pressing [Ctrl] and [Print Screen] at the same time. This copies a snapshot of the contents of the current application to the system clipboard. Now open MS Word. Paste the contents of your clipboard by using the "Paste" command on the Edit menu. Use the "Crop" command found on the Picture toolbar as needed. Got any tips that you would like to share?

Blog Much?
I just got a call from one of my favorite Icovia (Business Edition) contacts. Let’s call her Jane, for the sake of this conversation. Jane called to tell me that she finally got around to “checking out this blog thing” that I mentioned in my email. She was delighted to find the type of information she found there. Jane also confessed that she’s been ignoring the blog reference in my email signature because she had no idea what a blog is.
Are you in that camp? Or maybe you’ve been to a few blogs, but don’t quite get the concept? Not to worry – blogging is a fairly new concept, so you’re in good company. “Blog” is derived from Web Log. It’s an informal communication forum for exchanging ideas and information, among other things.
This is a fairly new blog, and there aren’t many comments on it so far. But I would like this blog to be an open forum, with lots of input from people like you. I think that people appreciate candid discussion. To that end, I’m removing the “submit email address” requirement as well as the comment preview filter. Do me a favor, keep it honest, clean and kind. Now you have no excuse. Post your comments. We’d love to hear from you. If you have a comment you would like to post, but don’t know where to post it, you can always comment on this post.

Some things are just worth waiting for. I first announced that there would soon be a new "3.0" version of Icovia Design Edition back in March. It took a while to get this release ready for you, but you will be happy to get your hands on Icovia 3.1. We're planning on releasing this puppy on Tuesday, June 20th. I can't wait! After playing around with the new version, well, let's just say version 2.0 will be very hard to go back to.
So what's so great about this new release? Well, I'm glad you asked. First of all, everything that I mentioned in my previous posting still applies.
The biggies:

And this is just the beginning! To find out more, check out the "New Features" page of the brand-new help system.
